Lilac and Cherry Twilight Lenormand companion decks

A Russian pair of companion decks, the Lilac and Cherry Twilight Lenormand are produced from classical artworkmaking them a rich and detailed deck.  Both decks are included in the box with a thick instruction booklet in English and Russian.

There are many interesting ways to use the companion decks, such as using one as the houses and the others as the read, selecting your favourite version from each deck to build your own personalised version etc. I personally just use them straight as they are for now and gravitated towards the imagery on the lilac deck over the cherry.

Each card is numbered and shows the card title in Russian and English. There is a lovely lace border around the cards and as you can see from the above image, the cherry deck has a Fortune Teller card added as an extra. The booklet does talk about this and ways you can integrate it into reads if you choose to do so.

Both decks have the same backing design which allows you to mix the decks if you choose as well as use reversals if this is how you read, as the butterfly design allows for this.

The card stock is good, but is worth noting that the card sizes are larger than your standard Lenormand size which is usually around the size of bridge or poker cards. This does allow more detail but would stretch space if you wanted to lay a grand tableau with them. I have seen several people trim the borders of 2 this deck, possibly to help with this, though you will lose the titles and numbers.

I believe each deck is supposed to have a “feel” to it, one lighter and one darker, but I tend to just go with which I felt most drawn to as I personally didn’t feel light or dark overall from either.

There are some spreads and techniques explained which are unique to this companion set in the booklet which is in depth and informative and adds other levels for those who really like using this system. The deck is usually available from several sellers in Russia and eastern Europe on eBay at around £15 at the time of publishing.

If you enjoy classical imagery and cards with more depth than a lot of classic Lenormand, you will love these decks. They offer a lot of different ways of using the decks with the systems in the booklet, if you would like to expand your card reading skills. Even though I don’t utilise these, the imagery is enjoyable itself.
